Dutch duo LouLou & Tummie’s artworks are precious digital illustrations made with a computer, a Wacom and lots of love. They use simple shapes, poppy colors and some subtle gradients to create an imaginary, playful and poetic universe. Inspired by vintage toys, futuristic toys and all things cute, their computers spit out super adorable graphics and characters that can be found in books, advertisements, magazines, on walls, interiors, shoes and t-shirts and as plush dolls and paper toys.
The story of LouLou & Tummie starts in the low lands of Holland. Born and raised in tiny villages, they both started drawing from an early age to fight boredom. Every time it was raining, you could find them inside sketching and drawing. It was never really their plan to make a ‘job’ out of illustration, but somehow they ended up at the St. Joost art academy of Breda, where they met. After Loulou and Tummie graduated, they started a design & illustration studio in Tilburg.
Today LouLou and Tummie spend their days doing what they love most: creating adorable illustrations full of colorful characters. They draw their inspiration from very different sources: illustrations and decorations from the middle ages, vintage books and posters, big cities, seventies kitsch and the cool and weird stuff they find on the web. Besides that they collect all kind of toys, second hand vinyl records and retro pictures.
