As the name implies, this book (but I dare call a Bible) tells the story of graphic design in Brazil in a very intelligent way and brings a wealth of incredible images and with a touch of nostalgia for most Brazilians.

Linha do tempo do design gráfico no Brasil is the most comprehensive survey ever conducted on the activity in the country. Two centuries of production, from the beginning to the end of the nineteenth century, parade through 744 pages in more than 1600 color images, a delicious visual testimony of the history of Brazil in this period, capable of awakening the memories of very diverse public.

“In 2010, Cosac Naify launched the classic history of graphic design, which became the starting point for an even more adventurous. Noting the timidity of the presence of Brazilian graphic design in the pages of the book, the art director Elaine Ramos felt the need to add an attachment to the work in a form of a timeline of graphic design produced in the country.”

Organized by the designer and professor at the School of Architecture and Urbanism of the USP Chico Homem de Melo, who signed texts and commentaries, and the art director of Cosac Naify, Elaine Ramos, responsible for graphic design, the project took three years of research in mapping books, magazines, newspapers, signs, posters, albums, stamps and banknotes.
